I rent, so I was looking for a filter that would be easy to install without damaging anything. This Epic filter did a great job of that. Installation took all of about ten minutes, and most of that was cleaning everything out under my sink! You just need to screw on a single adapter in your water line and plug in two pipes. I was visiting my parents out in Maryland for the holidays and my mom mentioned that they were experiencing high levels of MTBE (basically a bad chemical that is found in ground water). So I ordered one of these and installed it at their house just before I left. First, this is a super easy install compared to most things that I have tried. They also have these helpful videos that give you step by step instruction on YouTube. Second, the water tastes super clean and it was instantly a noticeable difference. Third, it is one of the only filters I could find that actually removes MTBE. We installed the Epic Smart Shield about 2 weeks ago. It is awesome. It doesn't decrease the pressure as much as we'd expected and was quick and easy to install (we have not had any issues with leaks). The water tastes great! We've looked at other models but this one fit our needs perfectly. I didn't think there was a water issue in our area but we had two letters sent to use from the city explaining about heavy metal contaminants over the last year. That's two too many for my taste. If there is one thing you do in your home this year it should be to get a great water filter system. We assumed the drinking water in Oregon would always be fine, but it turns out the city's pipes are so dang old and end up leaching into our drinking water. What a shame.
